Connect with Me on LinkedIn

This section used to have a list of dry, financial services I offer. Stuff like:

  • Paying off debt,
  • Retiring with confidence,
  • Investing in an unstable world, or
  • Maximizing the utility of your income.

Now I just use it to connect on LinkedIn. Far more fun and useful.

Planning Process Simplified

We don’t feel the need to coax you with fancy phrases like “Free 1 hour session” or “Complimentary Financial Review”. Here’s our process. You don’t pay anything until we completely understand each other.

Step 1 – Introductions

You and yours will meet with Ryan to discuss what Matters most to you. In this 30-minute, remote call, we can see if we’re a good fit for you and consider the service level that best meets your needs.

Step 2 – What does money mean to you?

We deep dive into not only your present financial situation, but also your past and future experiences with money. We believe that understanding your current relationship with finances is the only way to propel you forward.

Step 3 – Analysis and Recommendations

Our final preliminary meeting is to review your household priorities and provide recommendations for you going forward.

All of the above is just our way of saying THANK YOU for your consideration.

Helping you accomplish your goals, reduce your burdens, and pave the way to success is our mantra.

We wish to only work with those that are committed to the process. We hope that’s you.

It would be awesome if you filled out the contact page.

Or don’t. It’s completely up to you.

Messages received by MMM are responded to within 1-2 business days.

    Frequently asked questions:

Will you do a good job?

We are a CFP® based and fee-only firm. We answer to you and you alone. You are our boss. We work hard for our bosses.

What if we’re not a good fit for each other?

No pressure at all. We want to make sure you’re a good fit for us too! MMM will even help you find someone that can help your specific situation if we feel that we aren’t a match.

Isn’t hiring a financial advisor too expensive?

Those that work with advisors are far more likely to save more money and invest it in proper vehicles throughout their lifetime. Your tax strategies become more efficient, and your mental morale can increase as well. Don’t take our word for it, ask Vanguard.

What if I don’t have the time to work with a financial advisor?

We cater our sessions and time to your schedule. Nevertheless, our expectation is to take less than 10 hours per year of your time. Subsequent years require even less. House calls and virtual appointments remove travel times too!

What do I know about this Ryan McCarty, CFP®?

He’s pretty great and good for at least the first round of beer. Check him out in the About Us section below.

Financial Peace University Coach (2014 – 2020) – I studied the idea of financial coaching through Financial Peace University which focuses on debt reduction, basic investing principles, and good advice for the masses. Coaching is great for those that are just starting out or are in financial pickles. I wanted to deep dive into individual financial households, so I decided to ramp up my game by looking for a position in financial planning.

Lincoln Financial (2016-2021) – I landed at Lincoln after leaving my healthcare career for a role as a paraplanner. Here I learned the ins and outs of planning while studying for my various licenses and certifications. Lincoln financial follows the broker dealer model of financial planning firms, something I did not want for my clients due to its reliance on commission based financial products and high minimums to start.

McCarty Money Matters (2021 – Present) – I started McCarty Money Matters to help young families explore what’s possible with their income. Imagine how many more millionaires we could make if we started educating and helping individuals in their 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s rather than their 60’s and 70’s!  Time and energy are abundant in our younger years and they need to be used effectively to energize our retirement and various savings goals.

Employee Benefits – Stock options, insurance, etc. Take maximum advantage of what’s available to you.

Youthful Investing – You have a lot of years ahead of you, let’s put them to good use with investments that cater to your lifestyle.

College Prep – What should you and your kids be doing to better their chances of admission/ receiving scholarships?

Entrepreneurs – Providing a guiding hand to benefit packages with no commissions or sales pitches.

Young family planning – College, Retirement, and everything else in between

CFP® – Allows us to discuss, in detail, all levels of your financial household. Book with confidence.

Former Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA)

Series 7 & 63 – These allow us to talk to you about any and all investments.

Bachelor’s Degree (2014) – Health Information Management University of Illinois at Chicago

Post Graduate Education (2021) – The American College of Financial Services

I live and work in Carol Stream, Illinois, a northwestern Chicago suburb. I usually operate remotely, but I love the excuse to visit client homes or meet at a brewery as well.

    Investment Philosophy

At MMM, we believe your money is yours. Period. Whether it’s costs, fees, or taxes, you’ve earned the money and we want to see you keep it above all else. This is why our business is entirely fee only with no commissions and we practice, whenever possible, no load and no transaction fee investing. We believe that market timing is fruitless and that there is more to investing than simply returns. We believe that while risk is unavoidable, it can be mitigated with proper diversification and allocation. We believe that the taxation on your investments is inevitable to some degree, but we practice the necessary tactics to get your bill as low as possible.

    Personal Information

I have two amazing kids. Rayne, my daughter and Ryder, my son. They were brought into this world by my lovely wife Deanna who is a nurse at Northwestern Medicine. In our off hours you can likely find us at a brewery trying the latest creations. When we travel, we tend to make plans based on how many breweries we can hit while we are there! For a quieter day, we’ll pull out any number of board games with friends ranging from Catan to Twilight Imperium. In my personal development time, you can find me lifting at Fountain View Fitness, listening to an investment podcast, or planning a funny video.
